CENTRO SÓCIO EDUCACIONAL IR.BERNADETTE – SÃO PAULO

A few history of Socioeducational Center Sister Bernadette Leme Monteiro

“Amusing Hive” was founded in 1961 in the Santana School, by Sister Maria Bernadette Leme Monteiro with the purpose to contribute with the religious and social education of needy boys, from 6 to 14 years old.

Before the registry, was made a domiciliary visit to check the situation of family. In some cases was necessary a biggest relief, what we did as far as possible.

The “Hive” was exclusively for boys and worked like a day school, with two daily meals.

There were two categories of boys: those who were in the primary school (1st to 4th grade) and those who had finished this grade and were preparing to go to the technical teaching.

For the first group besides the social and religious education, was given a directly study, handicraft and games. For the oldest, was given technical works.

The Works did by they, could be sold and the profit was invested in a savings account, that were opened for each one in CAIXA. It was a manner to also educate them in economy learning.

During these years of Sisters dedication, we have a big pleasure to notice that the majority of these students knew enjoy the opportunity that was given for them, developing abilities and competences that collaborate with their insertion in the society and job market.

Many of them came back to tell us their success in the job and studies and some of them could complete the Higher Education. I want to mention one of these ex-students that always say for us that he discovered his talent here in “Hive”. He calls José Moura, the inventor of news in mechanics tool field, a course that he did with success.

As time passes, many things were changed, following the education and life evolution. The “Hive” wasn’t exclusive for boys yet; instead of children go to public schools, like was early, they started to come to classrooms of Fundamental Education here in our school.

In 2007, the Congregation decided to create a School independent of Santana School, but with the same goal. Then, it started to be called “Sister Maria Bernadette Leme Monteiro Socio Educational Center” in honor of its founder.

It’s our pleasure to give the same quality for the learning of Santana School.

We have a teacher’s team very well selected and a coordinator that get this mission with strength and love by the students.
